About Us
Project ACT has been a leading support for Maryland's early care and education community since 1996. Our work is rooted in Abilities Network's core values of Respect, Well-Being, Reflection, and Courage. Our professional development, coaching, and consultation services are focused on bringing equitable and inclusive practices to the community. Project ACT's multidisciplinary team works to ensure that all children have positive early experiences that support their development and honor their identities in safe, nurturing environments.
Child care is an essential component of a thriving community as it supports families and businesses to enjoy ample economic opportunity. Project ACT provides support for operating viable child care businesses, reducing staff turnover, and accessing financial and quality support programs. Coaching and consultation focuses on increasing quality programming and reducing suspensions and expulsions to support working families. Additional support for families is available to increase parenting skills, reduce stress, and access concrete resources in times of need.
Project ACT creates opportunities for professional development that enhance each early childhood professional's ability to care for themselves and the children in their programs. Through communities of practice, peer support networks, and training, Project ACT is a place where all early childhood professionals can learn and grow. Professional development services cover a wide variety of topics related to early care and education, with an emphasis on caring for children with disabilities, creating equitable programming, preparing for emergencies, and practicing self-care.
Project ACT is a member agency of the Maryland Child Care Resource Network, a Infant and Early Childhood Support Services project, and an MSDE approved training organization. Funding is provided by Maryland Family Network, the Maryland State Department of Education, Baltimore County Department of Housing and Community Development, and Abilities Network, with additional funding from various foundations and organizations.
